Software Developer at KUKA Austin (Austin, TX)

KUKA Austin is seeking a talented, high-performing and motivated individual to shape how we architect, visualize, interpret, and extract value from data. You will be working as a software developer on the Data Science & Artificial Intelligence team to help design, implement, and deploy data-driven models and algorithms for asset management, predictive maintenance, and process optimization for KUKA machines, assets, and systems. An ideal candidate will blend software development experience with broad knowledge of existing data mining, machine learning/deep learning, mathematical optimization algorithms, and creativity to invent and customize when necessary.

 

Essential Functions

    Production software development for manipulation and analysis of data

    Develop and drive initiatives in data discovery and data preparation

    Frame proper analytic problem statements to business and product challenges

    Extract, clean, and manipulate large datasets (both structured and unstructured)

    Work in a highly interactive, team-oriented environment

    Possess excellent written and oral communication skills; must be capable of fully yet concisely articulating technical concepts to non-technical audiences

    Review research and implement targeted machine learning/deep learning approaches applicable to predictive maintenance and robotics problems

Education and Experience

    Possess, or are working towards, a M.S./Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or other engineering discipline with strong programming experience. Ph.D. preferred

    Experience with processing and analyzing large datasets

    Understanding of algorithms, software development, and software architecture

    Understanding of data structures and data modeling

    Experience with programming languages such as Python, Scala, C, C++, and their respective scientific libraries

    Experience with deep learning libraries or frameworks (such as Tensorflow) preferred

    Experience with advanced data analysis techniques, statistical/machine learning models, deep learning models, and related quantitative modeling techniques. Time series or signal processing experience preferred

    Comfortable implementing algorithms based on published literature

    Knowledge and understanding of SQL, and how to use it to extract structured datasets for analysis

    Advanced knowledge in mathematics (such as linear algebra)

    Robotics knowledge and experience preferred
