We are looking for a passionate hands on individual with a strong sense of product ownership to join our R&D team. As a member of our agile and multidisciplinary R&D team, you will conduct state-of-the-art research in IR optics, perform rapid prototyping to define new products, and provide expert knowledge and leadership to current product improvement. You are an individual that constantly desire to innovate and further advance technology, and are able to translate optics knowledge and experimental skills to extraordinary products, while contributing to other technical needs of the business.

Responsibilities:Innovate, refine, design, and develop optical hyperspectral systems for passive chemical spectroscopy using microbolometers and IR sensors
Work with other teams to make a robust integrated product, and support other technical needs of the business
Make technical plans and design decisions
Ensure the state-of-the-art of our optical products
Lead optics research and perform rapid prototyping with team to develop new products
Report to CEO on hardware R&D progress
Required Skills/Qualifications:An authority in IR Optics and a technical innovator
Strong hands-on skills in product development, and product improvement of advanced optical systems
Familiarity with FPGA and Systems engineering
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics Science, or a related field
Demonstration of technical innovation in IR optics, including peer reviewed publication and patents
5+ years of experience in applied research and/or product development of advanced optics/photonic systems, which includes troubleshooting, development, validation, analysis, and modeling of optical devices/systems
Prototyping ideas in a hardware setting
Understanding of computational imaging and image processing algorithms
The ability to collaborate and work well in an interdisciplinary team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:Experience as principal investigator
Experience with all stages of new product development
Programming skills in Python, C++, or equivalent
Familiarity with remote sensing, calibration, characterization, and radiometry
Knowledge of a broad range of optics including imaging, illumination, radiometry, physical and geometric optics, and statistics
Skill with interpreting optical measurements in terms of the underlying physics
