As a member of our agile and multidisciplinary team, you will investigate the underlying physical effects of optical sensors systems and contribute to their integrated optics and overall design. You will translate your knowledge of physics and experimental skills to extraordinary products, while contributing to other technical needs of the business. Responsibilities:Innovate, refine, design, and develop optical hyperspectral systems for passive chemical spectroscopy using microbolometers and IR sensorsWork with software and hardware teams to make a robust integrated productAid and support the development of hardware and software for detection algorithms Design and perform quantifiable experiments to isolate:Failure modes in software or hardware designSources of noise or flaws in software or hardware designOther issues that affect product performance, stability, or robustnessMake recommendations of specifications, hardware changes, or software changes to improve product performanceValidate changes and confirm product improvement
Required Skills/Qualifications:MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics Science, or a related field5+ years of experience in applied research and/or product development of advanced optics/photonic systems, which includes troubleshooting, development, validation, analysis, and modeling of optical devices/systemsStrong hands-on skills in product development, and product improvement of advanced optical systemsExpertise in the analysis of experimental dataThe ability to collaborate and work well in an interdisciplinary team environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skillsUnderstanding of computational imaging and image processing algorithms
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:Experience as principal investigator for which significant results were achieved or established subject matter expert demonstrated through publications, patents, and shipped productsStrong programming skills in Python, C++, or equivalentFamiliarity with remote sensing, calibration, characterization, and radiometryKnowledge of a broad range of optics including imaging, illumination, radiometry, physical and geometric optics, and statisticsSkill with interpreting optical measurements in terms of the underlying physics
